Add Fun in your learning and learning in your fun

Well if you know me , the title might sound little funny to you as I am not funny at all. I am a pretty sober and sombre gentleman with whom unless you open up, you will struggle to fetch a smile,  ( The good news is I'm changing ).

If you have interacted with kids, the first key to open gate barrier of your age is your pretty smike. Either you are my types or not, more than your colleague or better half or anyone including yourself, your kids realizes the difference of a missing  smile on your face , with the speed closer to that of Light.  Probably that's the first click they have of your mood. My younger one would literally hold my lips and  force me to smile if I am saying something with simple tone, to make sure it's all good and I am not scolding her.

With her I realized that if you sit down and try to teach her things in a serious teacher pupil usual interaction mode, you loose her faster than a melting ice-cream. You need to have humour in both your conversation and style if you are doing a serious business with her. You play ' catch a ball' with her and teach her name of countries she will start beating you in few minutes , but the moment you sit down with her and ask her to narrate name of 5 countries, you bet it would take more than a quarter hour to do that. You teach her drawing when her mood is elevated and this 4 year old creature can surprise you with her pencil strokes ( or marker strokes as I should say ) , but the moment you try to convert this fun to a lesson you have not got her even close to a dot.

It went few more observations for me to realize that there are kids friendly people and they sway away kids much faster than a while usual crowd , with their impeccable smile and talks closer to kids world. Well kids have created a virtual world around themselves every kids do and transistion from those imaginary boundaries to real boundaries needs some bridges. Once you are an acceptable guest of their world it's only a quid pro quo to exchange any information you want to and their learning speed could beat a F1 car on the track.

More Practical tips as we go along....
